Recently, I decided to dedicate 2013 to exploring all the macho traits I haven’t really invested in. Some of my favorite facebook posts ever came out of the discussions about what sort of manly exploits I ought to undergo.
Some of the people I would have least expected it from rejected the question and asserted quite passionately that you ought to be who ever you ought to be. It’s a primal topic: What makes men, men? By extension, what makes women, women? What is manhood/womanhood? To what extent should we let our personalities be dictated by our gender?
Over at http://bucketfulloftestosterone.wordpress.com/ I am going to be blogging about my adventures this year, reclaiming some parts of me I rejected. I’m not going to get all ponderous over there about whether I should be doing it or what it means.
Over here, at Jeff’s Deep Thoughts, I’m interested in pursuing those more intellectual questions. If you’ve got some thoughts about the questions in that second paragraph above, I’d love to here them. (Because, after all, we’re over at the ponderous Jeff’s Deep Thoughts, not at the rockin’ and unreflective Bucket (Full of Testosterone) List.
